Miami, FL – Former NFL wide receiver and Super Bowl champion Antonio Brown is currently wanted by Florida authorities in connection with an alleged attempted murder during a violent altercation at a boxing event held on May 16, 2025, in Miami.

According to an arrest warrant released by law enforcement, multiple eyewitnesses stated that Brown discharged a firearm following a heated confrontation with another individual at the amateur sporting event. The warrant alleges that Brown seized a gun from an on-site security guard before firing. Two spent shell casings and a holster were later recovered at the scene.

An off-duty police officer, who had been hired for event security, reportedly intervened and detained the 36-year-old athlete until additional officers arrived. However, at the time of police arrival, no weapon was found in Brown's possession, and the second individual involved in the altercation could not be immediately located.

Brown addressed the situation on social media the following day. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he claimed he was attacked by multiple individuals attempting to “steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me.” He added:

“Police temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me,” Brown wrote.
“I went home that night and was not arrested.”

Despite his denial of wrongdoing, law enforcement proceeded to issue a formal arrest warrant based on multiple witness statements and the recovered evidence at the venue.

Past Legal Troubles Resurface

This incident marks yet another legal setback for Brown, whose NFL career—once marked by record-breaking performances—has long been marred by controversy.

Brown, who rose to stardom with the Pittsburgh Steelers and later secured a Super Bowl win with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021, has faced several legal issues over the years. In 2019, he was accused of sexual assault by a former trainer in a civil lawsuit later settled out of court. In 2020, he pled no contest to burglary and battery charges related to an altercation with a moving truck driver.

Brown’s NFL career effectively ended in 2022 when he infamously stormed off the field during a game against the New York Jets, removing his jersey mid-game in a scene that went viral.

Where Things Stand Now

As of June 13, Antonio Brown remains at large. Florida authorities continue their investigation, and have not yet confirmed whether surveillance footage will be released. Brown’s legal team has not issued any official statement at this time.

If arrested, the former wide receiver could face serious felony charges, including attempted second-degree murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, and aggravated assault.
