Israel is on high alert after three buses exploded in Bat Yam, a city south of Tel Aviv, in what police are treating as a suspected terror attack. According to Israeli authorities, explosive devices were planted on multiple buses, but two additional bombs failed to detonate.

Massive Police Operation Underway

Large police forces have been deployed to the area, actively searching for suspects and potential unexploded devices. Aryeh Doron, a police spokesperson, described the situation as ongoing, urging the public to remain vigilant. “Our forces are scouring the area, and we urge citizens to report any suspicious bags or objects,” he told Channel 12. He noted that the explosions could have been even deadlier if the bomb timers had functioned as intended.

Nationwide Transport Shutdown

In response to the attack, Israeli Transport Minister Miri Regev ordered a temporary suspension of all buses, trains, and light rail services across the country to allow security forces to conduct thorough inspections for additional explosives. Regev, who was on a diplomatic visit to Morocco, has cut her trip short and is returning to Israel.

Eyewitness Footage and Growing Concerns

Footage circulating on social media shows at least one bus engulfed in flames in a parking lot, with thick smoke billowing into the sky. Fortunately, there have been no reported casualties so far.

Local media reports suggest that one of the undetonated bombs weighed 5kg and carried a note stating “Revenge from Tulkarem,” possibly referencing a recent Israeli military counter-terrorism operation in the West Bank.

Military Response and Government Actions

Following the explosions, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced an immediate escalation of military operations in West Bank refugee camps. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is receiving continuous updates on the situation, according to a statement from his office.

This attack marks a significant escalation in tensions and has raised fears of further incidents. Security forces remain on high alert as investigations continue.
