The Trump Organization is making headlines once again—this time in the telecom industry. On Monday, the company announced the upcoming launch of Trump Mobile, a new mobile phone service bundled with a $499 gold-tone smartphone called the T1. Scheduled for release in September 2025, this venture marks a strategic expansion of Donald Trump’s branding empire into digital connectivity.

According to the Trump Mobile website, the service offers a $47.45 monthly plan dubbed “The 47 Plan”—a nod to Trump’s current presidency as the 47th President of the United States. The package includes unlimited talk, text, and data, along with added perks such as roadside assistance and telehealth and pharmacy benefits.

In classic Trump fashion, the branding is bold: the T1 smartphone features a metallic gold casing engraved with the American flag, and displays Trump’s iconic slogan: “Make America Great Again.”

Despite its ambitious presentation, Trump Mobile is not directly operated by the Trump Organization. A disclaimer on the company’s website clearly states that the products and services are part of a licensing agreement, distancing the Trump Organization and its principals from development, distribution, or customer service responsibilities. This mirrors past business moves by Trump, where watches, sneakers, and even Bibles have been launched under licensing deals that monetize his name with minimal financial exposure.

Ethics and Pricing in the Spotlight

Critics have once again voiced concerns over the ethics of monetizing the presidency. Trump’s ongoing licensing ventures have long drawn scrutiny over the blurred lines between public office and private profit. Nonetheless, the Trump family appears unfazed. Recent financial disclosures show the president earned over $8 million in 2024 through similar branding agreements.

In terms of cost, Trump Mobile’s plan is notably more expensive than competing offers in the market. Budget carriers like Visible (by Verizon) provide unlimited plans for $25/month, while Mint Mobile offers similar services at $30/month.

Still, Trump Mobile argues that its offering delivers “nationwide coverage equivalent to the top three U.S. carriers” and boasts U.S.-based customer support—though CNBC reports that representatives declined to disclose the call center’s exact location, citing security reasons.

What’s Inside the Trump T1?

The Trump Mobile T1 phone is said to run on Android 15, and features a 6.8-inch AMOLED display, a 16MP front-facing camera, and a 50MP rear camera. It comes equipped with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, positioning it as a high-performance device aimed at a premium market—particularly among Trump loyalists and conservative consumers.

While major carriers Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T have not issued official responses to the new entrant in the wireless market, observers say that the real power of Trump Mobile lies not in technology—but in identity politics and brand loyalty.

As the U.S. edges closer to the 2024 election cycle, the launch of Trump Mobile seems perfectly timed to fuel campaign fervor and consolidate Trump’s political brand across yet another industry.
