Raúl Asencio, a young footballer associated with Real Madrid, is facing a potential prison sentence for allegedly sharing an explicit video involving a minor. According to Spanish outlet Cope, the defense representing the underage victim is demanding four years of imprisonment, alongside a 20-month fine of €10 per day and a total compensation of €58,000.

The Incident

The scandal dates back to 2023, when three youth academy players—Andrés García, Ferrán Ruiz, and Juan Rodríguez—allegedly recorded a sexual encounter with two young women at a beach club in Gran Canaria. One of the victims was underage at the time. The video was captured without consent and later circulated among others.

Charges Against the Players

Prosecutors have charged García, Ruiz, and Rodríguez with illegal recording and child pornography. The accusations specify that the act of filming without permission was compounded by the deliberate distribution of the footage, leading to a request for four years and ten months of prison for each of the three.

Asencio’s Alleged Role

Although Asencio was not present during the encounter, he is accused of knowingly sharing the video after receiving it. The legal case argues that he was fully aware the video had been taken without consent, that the victims had asked for it to be deleted, and that one of the individuals involved was a minor. These facts, according to prosecutors, classify his actions under both unauthorized disclosure of private material and child pornography.

Financial Compensation Demands

The €58,000 in damages requested includes €27,000 for temporary physical harm, €21,000 for psychological trauma, and €10,000 for moral damages. Reports confirm that the second woman involved in the video—who is of legal age—intends to file an identical complaint.

Psychological Toll on the Victims

Both young women have been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other serious psychological repercussions linked to the unauthorized circulation of the video. In the court documents, the legal team emphasizes the additional suffering caused by the public exposure of the case, especially due to Asencio’s affiliation with a high-profile club like Real Madrid.

The notoriety of the player has, according to the legal argument, intensified the victim’s distress by amplifying the spread and media interest surrounding the case. Asencio's rise within professional football has drawn further attention to the scandal, deepening the emotional impact on those involved.

Ongoing Legal Proceedings

As of now, no formal sentencing has been handed down, and the judicial process remains ongoing. However, the severity of the accusations and the involvement of a globally recognized football club have turned the case into a major talking point both within Spain and internationally.

As the investigation continues, the outcome could set a precedent regarding digital abuse, consent, and accountability in the sports world.
