Three Killed, Multiple Injured in Virginia Shooting as Suspect Remains at Large
Spotsylvania County, VA – A deadly shooting unfolded Tuesday evening near Fredericksburg, Virginia, leaving three people dead and at least three others injured. Authorities in Spotsylvania County are actively searching for the suspect responsible for the violence, which took place around 5:30 p.m. in the residential area of Olde Greenwich Circle.
Emergency services responded swiftly to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered six victims. Three individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, while the remaining three were transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Officials have indicated that additional victims may be identified as the investigation progresses.
The suspect remains unidentified and on the run. Police have established a command post at the scene and described the area as “active” while search operations continue. Two vehicles riddled with bullets were towed from the area early Wednesday, with one showing signs of more than a dozen gunshots.
Victim identities and ages have not yet been released, and authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information. The scene remains heavily guarded, with armed officers patrolling nearby streets and surrounding grassy areas.
Witnesses reported terrifying moments as gunfire erupted in what is typically a peaceful neighborhood. One resident described seeing individuals running for cover before two armed suspects disappeared through nearby townhouses just before police arrived. Another man recounted the horror of hearing what sounded like over 100 rounds fired outside his home while his three daughters were inside. He acted quickly to move them to safety and call for help.
Due to the ongoing investigation and safety concerns, Fredericksburg City Schools issued a two-hour delay for Wednesday. A nearby convenience store also shut down temporarily.
